Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Zoe - the designer behind FoxKay.
A self-taught artist and sketcher, I’m currently exploring the world of surface pattern design here in Great Barford, where the local wildlife often sneaks its way into my work (looking at you, Wise Pheasant).

FoxKay is the name of my creative studio - a space where art and observation meet through thoughtful design. My work is inspired by everything from overgrown gardens and quirky creatures to tiled streets and family holidays. One of my favourite muses is the pheasant that roams the field outside our home. He’s since made his way into my sketchbook and into a design of his own - a character I’ll be introducing properly soon in a blog post about how he became the Wise Pheasant.

While FoxKay is my main design brand, The Patterned Fox is my creative journal and blog. The name reflects both my love for discovering patterns and the “fox” that’s always been a part of me - literally (it’s my surname!) and creatively. To me, the fox symbolises curiosity, adaptability, and devotion - all qualities that echo throughout my design process.

This space is for:

  • Fellow creatives and pattern lovers

  • Nature observers and travel sketchers

  • Anyone curious about what goes on behind the art

Come to browse, connect, or just say hi — you’re always welcome in my little corner of creativity.
